Enter details

How to use

  1. Fill in: Total rise - height to climb (mm). Fields with defaults or marked optional can stay as shown.
  2. Tap Calculate Ramp.
  3. Read the result - you can print or save it as PDF.

Worked example

With Total rise - height to climb = 300:

MAXIMUM GRADIENT1 : 12
  • Ramp run needed: 3.6 m for 300 mm rise
  • Minimum clear width: 1,200 mm
  • Landings required: None required by this band
  • Handrails: Both sides, 850-950 mm high
Reference table: NBC 2016 Part 3 Annex B (accessibility), Table 10, with 1500 mm min landing length. That annex excludes private residences, vehicle ramps follow a different limit (max 1:8), and NBC 2016 is superseded by SP 7:2026 - confirm which rules your local bye-law adopts. This tool does the rise/run maths; it is not a compliance certificate.
