Common questions

What is the EMI formula?

EMI = P x r x (1+r)^n / ((1+r)^n - 1), where P is the loan amount, r is the monthly interest rate (annual rate divided by 12) and n is the number of monthly installments.

What is the EMI for 10 lakh at 9% for 20 years?

Rs 8,997 per month (P = 10,00,000, r = 0.75% per month, n = 240). Total repayment is Rs 21,59,342, of which Rs 11,59,342 is interest.

Does the EMI stay the same for the full tenure?

For a fixed-rate loan, yes - but early installments are mostly interest and later ones mostly principal.
